How To Earn More In Less Time (Digital Leverage)
Let me ask you something.
If you had to open this door with one finger, where would you push?
Unless you’re a super saiyan you would pick option 2.
Why?
Because it gives you leverage.
This leverage gives you a greater effect for the same amount of effort.
This helps you to get a bigger outcome without a bigger inputs.
Just smarter inputs.
There are 4 types of leverage:
People (people that work for you)
Money (money that works for you)
Content (media that works for you)
Code (software that works for you)
Code and content are best because they’re permissionless.
I can’t code, but I can tell you about building leverage with content.
So in this newsletter, I’ll teach you about a specific type of leverage:
Digital Leverage.
It’s leverage that you build with content and it allows you to make a full-time living online while doing what you want (when you want and from wherever you want).
Let’s get started.
Before we dive in, I’m holding a massive Black Friday Sale: 60-85% OFF everything. Click here to check it out (ending soon). Back to the newsletter!
The Power Of (Digital) Leverage
“Give me a place to stand, and a lever long enough, and I will move the world.”
– Archimedes
Most people never get time control.
They’re stuck working a job that tells them what to do and when to do it.
They stay stuck like this and never have time to do what they actually want to do.
But Digital Leverage can help you to fix this.
Digital Leverage allows you to get more without doing more.
Your input stays the same but your output increases.
So you’ll earn more money in significantly less time.
Once you build up digital leverage, you’ll be able to earn with your mind instead of your time.
This allows you to work on the things you want to work on.
You’ll have meaningful work that makes an impact and you’ll also earn a lot of money because of the leverage you’ve built up.
The only thing standing between you and freedom is digital leverage.
So now that you understand how valuable digital leverage is, let’s talk about how you build it.
How To Build Digital Leverage
Digital leverage is your reach.
Your audience
Word of mouth
Other people’s audience
You build it up by giving people a lot of free value.
This introduces three questions.
What people?
What is valuable?
How do you give value?
Let’s quickly answer these questions.
1. What people?
The person you’re targeting is your ideal reader or viewer.
If you’re a business, this is your ideal client.
If you’re a personal brand, this is your past self.
You give them valuable free content to educate them.
2. What is valuable?
Value is all about perceived value.
So you have to understand human psychology for this.
It basically comes down to this:
What people perceive as valuable depends on their goals.
Everyone has goals that they think will improve their life quality.
This is what value is all about.
It’s improving people’s lives by adding benefits or removing problems.
The strongest desires are linked to universal human desires.
These are called the three eternal markets.
Love
Health
Wealth
These problems are linked to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Help people solve a big problem in one of these markets and you’ll do very well.
3. How do you give value?
It’s quite simple.
You give value through free content.
Videos
Tweets
Articles
Images
Threads
Podcasts
Carousels
Newsletters
The goal is to educate people.
You help them to solve (parts of) their problems so they can improve their lives and achieve their goals.
You can also give value with a community or paid products and services.
But it all starts with free content.
The key to writing good content is understanding that content is like dating.
Why Content Is Like Dating
In dating, both your appearance and character matter.
If you’re obese, people won’t care that you have a great personality.
Writing is the same.
Who you are = your ideas.
How you look = writing skills.
You need to present your ideas well by learning how to write (or edit videos).
I call this Aesthetic Writing.
It’s about optimizing your writing formatting for readability so it grabs and hold attention.
Because most people won’t read a wall of text.
Especially if they don’t know you.
So you want to make it easy for people to consume your content.
Use:
Lists
Simplicity
Repetition
White space
Conciseness
Stairway effect
Note: see how the sentences increasingly get longer? That’s the stairway effect.
There’s much more but these strategies will make your content much more digestible (I explain more strategies in Aesthetic Writing - 67% OFF until Black Friday).
Besides the formatting, you also want to keep the content goals in mind.
People come on social media for 3 main reasons:
To be inspired (Goggins)
To be educated (Huberman)
To be entertained (MrBeast)
It’s also possible to combine them:
Animated self-improvement videos (education and entertainment)
Podcasts that share stories and lessons (inspiration and education)
Transformation videos (inspiration, entertainment, and maybe even education)
If you give people what they want (content goals) in a format that appeals to them (Aesthetic Writing and video editing), then they will consume the content and you will build Digital Leverage.
There’s much more which I explain in the X Growth System (70% off until Black Friday). But this is the 80/20 of it.
Skills You Need For Digital Leverage
To build Digital Leverage, you need to learn (some of) the following skills:
Writing
Design
Speaking
Storytelling
Video editing
Writing is the most important one because it’s the foundation of all content (and business and life in general).
DMs = writing.
Emails = writing.
Videos = writing.
Tweets = writing.
Articles = writing.
Thinking = writing.
Speaking = writing.
Sales pages = writing
Youtube scripts = writing.
Product outlines = writing.
Sales calls scripts = writing.
Learn to write and you’ll be set for life.
But the other skills. are also important.
Gamifying Digital Leverage
Start looking at Digital Leverage as a game.
You are the character.
Your mission is your goal.
Your loot is the money you earn.
Your quests are your daily tasks.
Your XP is the knowledge you gain.
Your challenges are your obstacles.
Your environment is the platform you play on.
Your stats are your strengths and weaknesses.
Your skills are the abilities you level up over time.
Your boss fights are the big projects you take on.
Your level-ups are the upgrades that change your life.
Break everything down into actionable steps you can take on a daily basis.
Look at the daily actions as mini-quests that give your character XP.
This XP allows your character to level up until you eventually build up enough leverage to be free.
That’s how you build Digital Leverage.
